Whitwick Historical Group

Whitwick Historical Group holds a large collection of resources relating to family history research and local history, including documents, maps, artefacts with a local connection and an archive of over 7,000 photographs. The volunteers are always keen to assist with enquiries and support research. Visitors are always welcome. Members of Whitwick Historical Group attend local out-door events where the Group’s large marquee accommodates well-presented, attractive displays. Other activities include guided walks with a historical theme; slide-shows and talks to groups; school visits; attending events hosted by other heritage groups; and “Open Afternoons” at the Old Station.

The Group has a wide range of books and brochures on local historical events and people. Each year a calendar is printed featuring interesting photographs of village life.

Whitwick Historical Group is a member of Leicestershire and Rutland Heritage Forum and North West Leicestershire Heritage Network. The Group regularly participates in the annual events of the National Forest Walking Festival and Hello Heritage.
